"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
A question I have been asked a lot, and continue to be asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Or, "What type of work would you like to be doing?" I have wanted to be in an advocacy role now for the last 10 years. Places like The International Justice Mission, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Wheels For The World have always been on my radar as dream jobs. I really like that children are the beneficiaries of all three ministries, and at the very core of each orgazination, The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Several times in the last few months, Joni's ministry would come up in conversation with friends, and one night, while having dinner with a friend, she said to me, "You know, Julie-Anne, with your passion for children and The Gospel, you should think about getting involved with Joni's ministry." That was a Saturday night. I came home, looked up her ministry online, and saw where there was an opportunity to apply for an internship. I have been praying for more ways to get involved in non-profit organizations, and this would DEFINITELY look great on a resume, so...I applied. Monday morning, I got a response and an e-mail that said that Joni and Friends was impressed by my application, and would like to extend an opportunity for me to be a missionary intern with their organization! It took me half a second to respond with, "Yes! Yes! A thousand times, YES!!" I had my moment of "what has just happened?" I did my little happy dance. A week later, I received my "welcome packet" in the mail. This was real. This was happening....
